Tim Cook Makes Appearance at Grand Opening of Downtown Detroit Apple Store
Apple CEO Tim Cook was in Detroit on Friday for the grand opening of the company’s new store downtown, greeting customers that had lined up outside the storefront on Woodward Avenue for the launch of Apple’s first retail store in the city.
Cook greeted the first customers entering the store after its 5 pm opening, with many stopping to take photos with the tech CEO outside the front doors. Upon entering, customers received a free bag sporting a customized logo unique to the Detroit store. Displays inside also showed off the custom store logo.
Friday’s opening coincided with the in-store release date of the iPhone 17 line and the iPhone Air, which were on display for customers to interact with.
The store is located at 1430 Woodward Ave in a building owned by Bedrock Detroit, businessman Dan Gilbert’s real estate firm.
