Rally Against Redistricting Held at Indiana Statehouse
A rally against mid-cycle redistricting was held this morning at the Indiana Statehouse in Indianapolis.
The event, organized by the Indiana Black Legislative Caucus, featured remarks from lawmakers and activists who voiced opposition to proposed redistricting championed by some Republicans, whose party currently holds a supermajority in both the Indiana House of Representatives and the Indiana Senate.
The mid-cycle redistricting plan veers from the standard timeline used in recent history, wherein redistricting follows the once-a-decade United States census.
Similar plans have been adopted in Texas, Missouri and North Carolina, and have been proposed in California and Virginia. Ohio and Utah are set to see new maps for the 2026 midterms following court battles over congressional maps in the two states.
