Sign for New U.S.-Canada Bridge Up in Detroit, Michigan
A sign for the Gordie Howe International Bridge has gone up on I-75 in Detroit, ahead of the bridge’s expected opening later this year.
Google Maps now displays upcoming routes connecting to the bridge, which will soon offer a new crossing between the United States and Canada.
The multi-billion dollar bridge has been under construction since 2018, and will complement the existing Ambassador Bridge and Detroit-Windsor Tunnel crossings that currently connect the U.S. and Canada in the Detroit area. Unlike the current crossings, the new bridge will include a multi-use path offering toll-free access to bicyclists and pedestrians, the first continuous, non-special event crossing of its kind over the Detroit River.
