Helicopter Marshmallow Drop on Good Friday in Wayne County, Michigan

Thousands of marshmallows were dropped from a helicopter this morning in Trenton and Westland, Michigan for the annual Marshmallow Drop ahead of Easter Sunday

The free events, held in Trenton at Elizabeth Park and in Westland at Nankin Mills Park, featured a helicopter dropping marshmallows over a field, where kids could then retrieve them and turn them in for a prize

The event is non-competitive, with only one marshmallow needed for a prize. A special colored marshmallow is also included that can be turned in for a prize from event sponsors ITC Holdings and Friends of Wayne County Parks

Three separate drops occurred at each location, for age groups 4 and younger, 5-7, and 8 and older. Hundreds of children participated this year, and prizes included frisbees and fruit snacks
