Deadly Tornado Rips Through Southern Michigan, Significant Damage Near Union City
Recovery efforts took place Saturday after significant tornado damage on Friday in southern Michigan.
Severe storms on Friday left four people dead, several injured and extensive damage to property. Multiple tornadoes were reported in the region.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Office said that as of 8 p.m. Friday, there have been three fatalities and twelve reported injuries. Cass County Sheriff Clint Roach stated that a 12-year-old boy was killed.
Work on addressing damaged roofs was underway Saturday morning in Three Rivers, where several commercial buildings were impacted by Friday’s severe weather.
An update with preliminary information about Three Rivers from the National Weather Service says “an EF-2 tornado with winds estimated of at least 130 mph has been confirmed.”
