Candlelight Memorial Service Honors Fallen Police Officers at Michigan State Capitol

The 31st annual Law Enforcement Officers Candlelight Memorial Service, hosted by Michigan Concerns Of Police Survivors (MI-C.O.P.S.), took place Monday evening at the Michigan State Capitol in Lansing.

The event honored fallen Michigan law enforcement officers, including five whose line-of-duty deaths occurred last year - Trooper Joel E. Popp of the Michigan State Police, Detective Bradley J. Reckling of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy William H. Butler Jr. of the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office, Corporal Mohamed Said of the Melvindale Police Department, and Motor Carrier Officer Daniel M. Kerstetter of the Michigan State Police.

The event also paid tribute to past officers’ line-of-duty deaths, officers injured in the line-of-duty, retired officers, and all active police officers.
