Thousands Turn Out for Bernie Sanders’ “Fighting Oligarchy Tour” in Chicago

Senator Bernie Sanders spoke at the University of Illinois at Chicago on Sunday, as part of his nationwide “Fighting Oligarchy Tour”.

The event was held at the Isadore and Sadie Dorin Forum, also known as the UIC forum, on the university’s campus. Around 2,000 were in attendance for the event.

Speakers ahead of Senator Sanders included Illinois state Senator Robert Peters and U.S. House Rep. Delia Ramirez.

The stop marked the latest in a series of nationwide rallies Sanders has held this year on the tour, which began in February with a stop in Omaha, Nebraska. Sanders’ website describes the purpose behind the tour as “to have real discussions across America on how we move forward to take on the Oligarchs and corporate interests who have so much power and influence in this country”.

The tour has featured rallies in over a dozens states so far, with some previous stops with U.S. House Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez drawing tens of thousands.
