Dearborn Heights Neighborhood Flooded Following Heavy Rainfall in Southeast Michigan

A neighborhood in Dearborn Heights, Michigan was seen heavily flooded on Thursday, following substantial rainfall and thunderstorms in southeast Michigan from Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Significantly flooding occurred at Hanover & Banner Street, near where the Ecorse River runs through a residential neighborhood. The river’s water level was raised following the storms, which saw record-breaking rainfall in some Michigan cities. Vehicles were seen partially submerged on the street from the deluge.

Detroit saw it’s highest-ever one-day rainfall total at 2.18 inches on Wednesday, breaking a 1945 record of 1.44 inches. Flint saw 1.75 inches of rain, breaking a 1945 record of 1.62 inches. Other record-breaking rainfall totals occurred in Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Lansing and Battle Creek.
